ISSUE:

The rights of recently returned veterans are not as well protected as they should be. Men and women come home from war to find themselves embroiled in different kinds of conflicts: The state of Veterans Affairs, the lack of adequate screening for and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and homelessness among veterans are very real concerns.

IDEA:

The IAVA is the nation's first and largest group dedicated to the Troops and Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the civilian supporters of those Troops and Veterans. Through a variety of platforms, it educates the public about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and advocates on behalf of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom troops, veterans, and their families. IAVA members testify on Capitol Hill and meet with Senators and Representatives regularly. One of IAVA’s highest legislative priorities is providing better educational benefits to veterans.

IMPACT:

IAVA now represents more than 60,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and civilian supporters in all 50 states. It has provided America’s newest generation of veterans an opportunity to participate in the national dialogue about the wars and what service members face when they return home. It gives a voice to the more than 1.5 million men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in combat overseas since 9/11.

Hi friends

We've outgrown this 800-pixel wide website and we're moving to new digs.

While we pack up our things (i.e. articles and videos and stuff), we're shutting down commenting and new registrations on the current site.

Our new site is up and running at GOOD.is/.
