  I agree that if we did come up with alternative types of fuel it would take quite a long time to implement. I think people need to realize that the oil companies have lobbyists on capital hill in droves to sway the votes on any legislation that would move us toward alternative fuel. Take the solar energy field: This is energy produced by the sun. Well, the oil men cannot harness the sun, so we see that that is a technology that is virtually untapped because those greedy dogs have no way of monopolizing it. If they could come up with a way of creating a monopoly as they did satellite/cable industry, they would be all over it.

  We are dependent on foreign oil because Exxon, BP, Shell and a host of other Oil companies have vested interest in keeping the price of oil high. The higher the price of oil goes, the higher their profits soar. Didn’t anybody look to see how many billions they made in profits last year and the year before? Even in the face of such over the top profits, hey were still crying all the way to the bank.
