Veggies for vegans
response to Justin Droms's post Cold Turkey
One way to find the most flavour and health in vegan food is to stop looking for meat substitutes. If you're trying to be vegan, why would you want to pretend to eat meat? Most or all of the substitutes are just as bad as any other processed food, which is another kind of food that's not really vegan. What you should be paying more attention to is things like beans, lentils, chickpeas, and long grain rice with some added herb and spice. Once your stomach adjusts to eating curry, you shouldn't have terrible trips to the bathroom. Some good herbs include cilantro, anise, green onions, and fresh spinach leaves. You might also want to include things like garlic, radishes, tomato, peppers, peas, carrots, turnips and potato.
