Wah Wah Wah

response to  GOOD magazine and David Albertson's post Teacher Salaries

If teachers would quit whining about their salaries and teach, maybe we'd all vote to increase their pay. No one goes into teaching thinking they'll be paid like a captain of industry, only to discover -- oh, my! -- the salary is only 30 or 40 percent higher than other white collar workers. And, please, let's not point out that American teachers, on average, have 63 vacation days a year. Poor, poor teachers! Every time I travel out of the country, I run into vacationing teachers. It seems they have both the time and money to travel the world, yet your average American student can't point out Turkey on a map.
